What an occasion

The night started with cocktails at The Fish, an intimate bar on Melody Lane, otherwise known as The Regent Arcade off Broadway Avenue.

After months of planning, the inaugural Manawatu Hospitality Awards had finally arrived.

Designed to be an annual addition to Manawatu's social calendar, the event called for "glam" dress.

From the very first cocktail, the mood of the evening was established.

Bare-shouldered, bejeweled, and dressed, in some cases, in inherited furs, the ladies appreciated an opportunity to bring a little high fashion to a normally sedate Sunday night.

The gentleman admired and appreciated the effort most had made.

"We need to set the standard for next year's event!" one patron commented.

This was a night designed to celebrate the 3000 or so men and woman who provide the structure for the hospitality that Manawatu is renowned for.
