2012 Manawatu Hospitality Awards

The Awards were held on Sunday 4 November 2012.  Thanks to our sponsors we again held the evening at the Regent Theatre so family and friends could join in. The After Function this year was held at The Beer Barrel, and included supper, a generous ration of sponsors’ products and entertainment. It was a great night had by all, thank you to all who attended the awards and we hope to see you again next time. Restaurant Association of NZ Restaurant of the Year: The establishment offers a fine menu, service and welcoming ambience. It has ease of access and professional, well-tuned waiting staff. (70% mystery judged – 30% votes)

The Sharon Mann Memorial Trophy: “Acknowledging unrecognised contribution to the hospitality industry”

Awarded this year to Gordon Edwards. Gordon’s lifelong love for food and hospitality has taken him in many directions, both nationally and internationally over a professional career spanning almost six decades (58 years). Over thirty years of this career has been in the Palmerston North area. He was awarded NZ Chef’s Association Life Membership earlier this year.
